A Mother’s Story of Hope, Growth, and Community: Berk’s Journey at nonPareil
On this Giving Tuesday, we’re honored to share Berk’s story, a powerful reminder of what you make possible when you support the nonPareil community, opportunity, and growth for adults on the autism spectrum.
When Berk graduated from his public school transition program, his family began searching for opportunities that would help him continue building independence, work-readiness, and lifelong skills. That search led them to nonPareil Austin, where Berk became one of the location’s very first students.
Since then, Berk has excelled in our robust, industry-aligned technical training program, and his progress has extended far beyond technical skills. While he’s learned advanced tech skills, what stands out most to his mom, Lisa, is his personal growth, greater patience, problem-solving, collaboration, and confidence. She’s watched him participate more fully, connect with others, and develop meaningful friendships.
One of Berk’s favorite parts of nonPareil is the weekly Watch Party club, a place where he can engage socially, share something he loves, and build relationships in a supportive environment. These moments of connection have played a huge role in helping him feel understood and included.
Today, Berk continues to learn, grow, and discover new strengths. For Lisa, true success is seeing her son live a fulfilled, connected, continually developing life, and nonPareil has helped make that possible.
Today, on Giving Tuesday, you can help make life-changing stories like Berk’s possible!
